This explores the need for initial assessment in apprenticeships and its relationship to planning the 20% OTJ and the curriculum plan. The course provides examples of best practice and compliance with funding rules.

20% Off the Job Training and the Curriculum Plan

With the introduction of the 20% Off the job requirement in May 2017 there has been a lot of confusion with employers and training providers as to what this looks like. Whilst it is relatively easy to identify what 20% of the hours looks like in relation to contract of employment; for many providers they are less clear on how to achieve OTJ delivery of 20% of these hours. Key is having a detailed curriculum plan which identifies learning objectives and outcomes that are time prescribed throughout your delivery. Looks at this in relation to the new Ofsted Inspection Framework of Intended Curriculum, Implemented Curriculum and Impact of curriculum.
